Why choose Finland for a master’s?
- Global Certificate Recognition: The degree certificates of Finnish universities are recognized globally. So if you are planning to move to another country for your Ph.D., Finland can be a great option.
- Vast Research Opportunities: This is my favorite reason to be in Finland. Finland has huge funding in the field of research. There are a lot of options in the university to get yourself involved in research laboratories, especially for engineering students. I involved myself in research right after finishing the first year of my master’s. Even after graduation, I continued to work in the laboratory. It is a great value to your profile.
- Updated Curriculum: The curriculum of the courses is updated regularly. They do not continue to teach the old fixed set of things. They regularly update it based on industry needs and technological advancements.
Studying in Finland for my master’s was a great experience for me
Duration of Master’s and Credit System:
The master’s programs are usually designed for two (2) years. However, there are some programs that are designed for one (1) or one and a half years.
Most of the programs are designed in such a way that a student needs to complete 60 ECTS in one (1) academic year. You will need to complete 120 credits if you are coming for a 2-year master’s program.
The credit system is not used in Finland. They use the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). You can easily convert your credits to the ECTS system online.
